Reportedly, Panasonic Idemitsu OLED Lighting (PIOL) Co Ltd, a JVof Panasonic Electric Works Co Ltd and Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd, has kicked off shipping an OLED lighting panel in the Japanese and overseas markets Sept 1, 2011.
According to the company, the general color rendering index (Ra) of the OLED panel is 90 or higher, which is claimed as one of the world's highest for a mass-produced OLED panel.
The OLED lighting panel has a size of 97 x 90mm, a thickness of 2.11mm and a weight of 38g. The area of its light-emitting part is 80 x 80mm. Its Ra is as high as 90. And its brightness, color temperature, luminous efficiency and product life (the time it takes for the luminous flux to decrease by 30%) are 3,000cd/m2, 3,000K (incandescent color), 30lm/W and 10,000 hours, respectively.

In addition, in December 2011, Panasonic Electric Works plans to release an OLED lighting module that combines an OLED lighting panel and a control circuit.
OLED lighting module
The dimensions of the OLED lighting module are scheduled to be 102 x 95 x 8.9mm. Even though it is equipped with the control circuit, its thickness is about 9mm. The weight of the module is 100g. Its efficiency as a module is 21lm/W.
The brightness of the module can be adjusted in the range from 10 to 100%. The module can be easily embedded in slim lighting apparatuses that fit in well with buildings or facilities, Panasonic Electric Works said.
According to Panasonic Electric Works' roadmap for the development of OLED panels, the company aims to increase luminous efficiency from the current 30lm/W to 100lm/W in fiscal 2015 and 130lm/W in fiscal 2018.
