An Early Glimpse of the New £35k Christmas Lights for Boston

ARTIST’S impressions of how Boston’s Christmas lights could look this festive season have been made public for the first time.

Replacing tired and worn out displays that in places were as much as 40-years-old, the lights will be dynamic, bright, modern LED lights – mainly white, but with some colour, and use 75 per cent less electricity.

They will cover all the areas of town that the former Christmas displays covered.

Boston Borough Council is paying out its full allocated budget of £25,500 and Boston BID is contributing £10,000 to fund the new lights.

The Festive Lighting Company, which is providing the lights, said: “We are delighted to add the historic town of Boston to our list of customers. We have been making Christmas special throughout the UK for the past ten years, with many of our schemes featuring in places such as Birmingham, Cardiff and Edinburgh and we are very pleased that our suggested lighting scheme for Boston has been selected.

A provisional date for the switch-on is Thursday, November 24, and the Port of Boston will once again sponsor the town centre Christmas tree.
