Republic Street, Victoria has gotten LED makeover for a new set of Christmas lights taken by the Ministry for Gozo, through the National and Regional Celebrations Committee.
It will be spread over three years and the designs were selected after a public call made by the Ministry. The entire project consists of fourteen light valances, with the first seven up this year.
All lights used in these designs are LED and each valance consumes only about 750 watts, in line with the eco-Gozo project.
“This means that when all the lighting has been completed its consumption would amount in total to less than one light made up with conventional bulbs.” the Ministry said.
The second and third phase of the decorative lighting of Republic Street will continue to near the Villa Rundle gardens and will also be increased around the local streets.
