City Creek Center, a newly completed LEED Silver project in the heart of Salt Lake City, is evocative of a European streetscape and features 200 custom LED hanging light fixtures, each containing three Cree XLamp XP-G LEDs. Designed by Mike Joye of Auroralight, the LED festoon lighting creates as welcoming atmosphere for visitors to enjoy outdoor seating at night at any of the several restaurants located in the area.
The luminaires, nicknamed “The Necklace,” are three different lengths, 12”, 24” and 36”, and hang in a random pattern connected by a single cable that zigzags over a large area above the Center. Joye designed both a removable luminaire and interchangeable LED module so that individual lamps or fixtures can be easily serviced in the field.
Cree XLamp XP-G LEDs were chosen for the installation because of their brightness, high performance record and ability to withstand cold climates, like Salt Lake City. More information on the XLamp XP-G LEDs is featured below.
