Dynamic lighting Showroom and office for Tridonic partner Wennerström

The Swedish company of Wennerström Ljuskontroll has for many years acted as Tridonic’s sales partner in Sweden, Finland and the Baltic States. The new Wennerström offices in Stockholm are an impressive demonstration of the success of this partnership. The recently opened showroom and the sales offices have been fitted with dynamic lighting based on latest LED technology, light management components and lamp control gear from Tridonic.

Seeing the light: ideally in actual use
At Wennerström they are aware that seeing light in action is a much more powerful communication tool than talking about light. The showroom therefore plays a key role for the company. Lighting designers, electricians, architects and property developers can see the latest products and be inspired for their own particular projects. Visitors are greeted not by a static lighting concept by a dynamic experience.  The intelligent backbone for the versatile switchable, dimmable and tunable lighting is the DALI-based light management system winDIM@net with power supplies, control gear and control panels from Tridonic.

The main feature in the Showroom and part of the Office is the tunable general lighting which makes it possible to show how this new LED-technology can change the mode in the whole or in a part of the room. The tunable LED-system is based on the TALEXXengine STARK SLE PREMIUM from Tridonic in a modified downlight from Zumtobel. The colour temperature can easily be changed with a pushbutton which is connected to a DALI MC, via DALI e/x-touchPANEL or centrally controlled by winDIM@net.

Experiencing the light: the showroom
A particular highlight in the showroom is the “art wall”. This semi-transparent concrete wall can be highlighted in different ways with colour-changing LED light. RGB LED modules are used for backlighting the wall. Projectors with a rotating prisma are used to illuminate the wall from the front. These are also equipped with RGBA LED technology. The backlighting in combination with the dynamic projector lighting creates an irregular dynamic artistic lighting on the wall in the evenings.

Wennerström has also brought a little sky into the showroom as a further demonstration piece. A rectangular ceiling cut-out with an opaque cover, made to look like a skylight, is used to demonstrate the positive effect of tunable white light in a room without daylight. The tunable white light effect enables the entire white light spectrum from cold white through neutral white to warm white to be produced by a luminaire. It can be used, for example, to simulate changes in natural light throughout the day. To achieve this effect in the Wennerström showroom, the light is a stepless mixture of cold white light from TALEXXchain CRYSTAL SELECT Arctic and warm white light from TALEXXchain CRYSTAL SELECT Gold.

Using light: the offices and functional areas
The new design for the Wennerström offices will benefit not only the customers of this lighting distributor but also its employees. The lighting concept for the offices combines bright friendly background lighting from recessed ceiling downlights with task lighting from pendant luminaires. The T5 fluorescent lamps in these pendant luminaires are switched and dimmed under daylight and presence control. The necessary input values are provided by SMART sensor. Lamp operation is managed by PCA EXCEL one4all digital dimmable control gear with xitec II technology. The uplight in the pendant luminaries is controlled by DALI and the downlight can both be manually adjusted via remote control and by DALI. This all together makes the  lighting control very flexible, smart and efficient.
Decorative accent lighting in the offices is provided by coloured LED light based on TALEXXchain CRYSTAL.

LED light is also used in many other aspects of the project. This includes the TALEXXengine STARK QLE in a ceiling mounted luminaire and TALEXXengine STARK SLE SELECT in the downlights fitted in the conference room.
