LIFX Launches Smart Color Tuning LED Bulb

LIFX is a smart bulb that allows unprecedented control of your lights. It is a Wi-Fi and mesh radio enabled, multi-colour, energy efficient LED light bulb that you control with your iPhone or Android smartphone.

LIFX debuted on crowdfunding site Kickstarter in September 2012 with project funders pledging a total of US$1.3 million in just six days.

Since then LIFX has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, The Economist and Mashable and has been regarded as one of the best, new smart home devices.

The team is led by founder and inventor Phil Bosua, and backed by a passionate team of developers, engineers, marketing and customer support staff aiming to deliver the best in class smart bulb experience.

Bulb Details

  • 1,017 lumens at maximum brightness (a 75 watt incandescent bulb produces 1055 lumens)
  • Consumes 18 watts at full brightness- 4 times more efficient than incandescent lighting
  • Consumes only 9 watts at the most common setting - 50% brightness
  • LED head rated to last 40,000 hours or 25 years of use
  • Capable of displaying 16 million colors and a white light kelvin range of 2700-8000K
  • LIFX software built on future-proof open standards including 802.15.4, IPv6 and 6LoWPAN
  • At 4 hours use per day, your LIFX bulb will pay for itself in approximately 4-5 years and reduce greenhouse emissions by ~80Kg per year
