Bruges Studio Collaborates with Philips to Make OLED Water Lilies

Bruges Studio in collaboration with Philips has developed a digital water lily concept, using the OLED Lumiblade technology.

The project formed through a series of experiments on OLED and liquids, uses the organic and lightweight properties of OLED to create a floating digital surface.

The lilies, blending nature and technology, only power when connected with the surface of the water.

By passing electricity through the liquid, the digital lilies not only create a mesmerising luminous and floating surface, but also a beautiful underwater ecosystem, similar to their organic equivalents.

By using strong hydrophobic materials, the studio has developed a technique of fully waterproofing the digital flowers and is currently looking into a system, which can control and program the lilies individually.
