Samsung Electronics has introduced the LM302A, a new 1W-level, high-luminance, mid-power LED package.
"The LM302A builds on the recent trend in the global LED component industry for mid-power products having high luminance performance that approaches high-power package level. The new LM302A will solidify Samsung’s leadership in the mid-power LED package market by providing enhanced value,” said Bangwon Oh, the Senior Vice President of Strategic Marketing Team, LED Business, Samsung Electronics.

The new LM302A boasts a compact form factor of 3.0 millimeter (mm) by 3.0 mm, and features an EMC (Epoxy Mold Compound) packaging, which is ideal to achieve high reliability and long lifespan. Compared to existing PPA (Polyphthalamide) and PCT packaging types, EMC packaging offers stronger protection against heat and UV rays, making it suitable for high-luminance packages with relatively higher wattage.
The LM302A provides 124 lm/W light efficacy in warm white (3000K CCT) conditions and 133 lm/W light efficacy in cool white (5000K CCT) conditions. With the higher efficacy compared to conventional mid-power packages, the LM302A is an excellent replacement for other 1W-level high-power packages. It also can cut lighting manufacturer’s light source cost by up to 50 percent.
The new LM302A offers a full line-up of 2700K-6500K CCT with CRI over 80 for various indoor and special lighting applications such as bulbs, downlights and shop. Samsung also plans to introduce line-ups with CRI 70 and 90 for outdoor uses later this year and early next year.
