Essex County Council to Roll out Pilot LED Streetlight Project in 2015

Essex County Council in UK will be initiating a pilot LED streetlight project next year, according to a report by Cambridge News.

The council’s decision came after it ranked on the bottom for street lighting with a score of 45.1 percent out of a league of 78 councils.

Up to 1,700 street lights will be converted to LED in six Essex areas, including Saffron Walden and Stansted Mountfitchet.

Decision to replace the lights came shortly after the county council was placed bottom for street lighting – with a score of 45.1 per cent – in a satisfaction league of 78 councils.

Streetlight blackouts in the country were criticized by the AA, a UK agency that highlights the dangers of driving on unlit roads.
