Philips’s UHD TV Incorporates LED and Red Lasers in Backlight

News Source:

Philips’s latest UHD TV uses laser technology to achieve wider range of colors, according to an engadget.com report.

Unlike standard TVs which uses white LEDs as backlight source, Philips’s PFL8900 incorporates cyan LEDs and red laser into its backlighting source, which is claimed to provide more accurate and expressive range of color.

The Smart TV comes with some smart features, including playing media from mobile devices or streaming apps such as YouTube, Netfix, Vudu, Pandora and Amazon.

It also comes with a pair of full-range vertical speakers which can be side-mounted on the TV or detached.

The product will hit the market by May 2015 in 58-inch and 65-inch, with the price of US $3,000 and US $3,500 respectively.
