Zentel Electronics Signs Legacy Electronics as Their Authorized North American DRAM and LED Distributor

Legacy Electronics, a U.S. designer and manufacturer of high-density memory modules, circuit boards and solid-state drives (SSDs) has expanded their management team by selecting Mike Ridling to fill the new position director of business development. In addition, Legacy is broadening their portfolio of components and memory modules through a contract to be the authorized North American distributor of Zentel Electronics DRAM and LED products.

As the director of business development, Mike Ridling brings over 31 years of experience in the semiconductor industry with 26 years in the memory electronics sector, and five years in the computing platform and storage sectors. He served as director of channel sales for Micron Technology for 15 years, and co-founded Monster Digital, Inc where he successfully launched a family of flash based memory products sold through major retailers across North America.

“There couldn’t be a better time for Mike to be joining the team at Legacy as we enter into a distribution relationship with Zentel for North America,” said Jason Engle, CEO of Legacy Electronics. “We’re going to be carving out a whole new niche in the semiconductor market and Mike’s experience in the day to day operations is a real advantage,” added Engle.

“I’ve known of Legacy’s solid reputation over the last 20 years in the semiconductor industry and I’m eager to join their team and push the growth of the company into automotive and other industrial markets with the addition of Zentel to Legacy’s product offerings,” said Mike Ridling, Legacy’s director of business development.

Zentel Electronics Corp. was invested by Powerchip Group in 2002 specializing in DRAM design and manufacturing using advanced fabrication process technology. It also has a Smart LED product line developed to provide LED lighting driver IC products and LEDs for DC power sources.

“We feel this agreement is a great fit for Zentel,” said Sean Lin, Zentel’s vice president of sales and marketing. “We now have a distributor in the U.S. marketplace that has marketing, engineering and manufacturing capabilities allowing Zentel to penetrate industrial and automotive segments as well as add Legacy module products which will help to expand our components reach in North America,” commented Lin.

“Legacy has a lot of customers that require long-term component and module support and many DRAM components manufacturers change their product make-up frequently, but with the addition of Zentel we can provide our customers with the long-term component support they require. This is a real win-win relationship for all parties involved,” added Engle.
