An Israeli design group kicked off a fundraising campaign for a sound activated gaming dice called Boogie Dice on Kickstarter, targeting a US $50,000 fund and has received US $113,842 so far.
Boogie Dice is a self-rolling, sound activated gaming dice that automatically rolls at the sound of hand-clapping.
The CEO and co-founder of Boggie Dice Nimrod Back came up with the idea of creating a self-rolling gaming dice. He’s convinced that the fun dice has to be introduced to the market as one of the accessory of a game bundle. Together with Saar Shai, co- founder and lead game designer, they launched a real- time card game called Bots Battleground and successfully combined it with Boogie Dice.

The programmable dice allows unlimited and customized design such as activation of the red LED or sound detection pause during specific period of time.
Breakdown of Boogie Dice.
Boogie Dice is fitted with a vibration motor, a tiny microphone and a rechargeable battery along with 3 LED lights.
Once fully charged, the 100 mAh rechargeable lithium battery installed lets Boogie Dice roll up to half an hour without stopping.
Simply place the dice onto the three metal charging pins on the charging station and the dice will turn red throughout the 40 minutes charging period.

It seems that a gaming dice can’t be too difficult to design, however, making it roll and flip automatically takes real calculation to create the right ratio among power, speed, size and weight.

Boogie Dice has 17 days to go before the campaign closes. Fancy an automatic gaming dice for your board game?
