Square LED Campaign Launched by PIXI(R) Lighting on Indiegogo

PIXI Lighting launches a crowd funding campaign on Indiegogo for its square LED lights. (PIXI Lighting/LEDinside)

PIXI Lighting launched a crowd sourcing campaign on the Indiegogo platform to validate its new lighting concept of LED square retrofits for recessed cans. In a world of only round options, the unique, eco-friendly PIXI Square is an 8 inch-by-8-inch recessed can retrofit kit for the one billion installed 5 inch and 6 inch cans in residential and commercial applications. From weekend warrior do-it-yourselfers to property managers alike, PIXI Lighting offers a new cost effective and green solution to replaceable incandescent, fluorescent and halogen PAR lamps in recessed cans.

Carrying forward the PIXI tradition of a slim form factor -- thinner than the width of a dime, the PIXI Square in 3000K CCT (warm white) has a sleek half-inch bezel to blend with any setting. Unlike traditional recessed downlights, the PIXI Square is designed to rest on the surface of a ceiling instead of sitting inside the recessed can housing. The design produces wider beam and field angles; 104 degrees and 159 degrees respectively, allowing more light spread. This helps eliminate conical light patterns, harsh glare and minimizes shadowing effects.

While exclusive in design, the dimmable PIXI Square utilizes the same edge-lit LED technology applied in premium brand name TV's. Energy Star certified, operating at a low 10 watts, with a cost usage of $1.20 per year -- based on 3 hours per day, 11 cents per kWh, the PIXI Square can lower energy usage and reduce HVAC costs. Also suitable for dry, damp or wet areas, you can install the PIXI Square throughout many areas including directly over shower stalls to further reduce energy usage. Complimenting any type room, the PIXI Square distributes 675 lumens of uniform light free of glare, hotspots and flicker.

"We decided to do an Indiegogo campaign to seek consumer support and validate designer acceptance of a square form factor for round recessed can retrofits. We believe the PIXI Square not only provides an instant remodel of the space but dramatically improves lighting distribution without the concentrated glare from PAR lamps and round LED retrofits," said Kirk Rodgers, PIXI spokesperson. "We intend to use net proceeds from the campaign to expedite development, prototyping and manufacturing tooling for a series of similarly innovative product launches in LED lighting to dramatically transform our living and work spaces."

The Indiegogo campaign http://igg.me/at/pixi/x/12686438 has an early adopter special discount on the PIXI Square for the first 100 backers. Additional discounts are available on 4-pack and 8-pack commitments. The campaign is slated to run through March 11, 2016.

PIXI Lighting takes our collective stewardship of the environment seriously and is including a way for individuals to not only lower their carbon footprint through the energy efficient PIXI Square LED but to also directly purchase carbon offsets on its Indiegogo campaign. The PIXI challenge further encourages supporters to help it reach a stretch funding goal of $150,000 and it would obtain 150,000 pounds of carbon offsets in addition to individual supporter pledges of carbon offsets.
