Hot Picks of the Week July 18-22

Highlights this week:

Osram and Epistar have been especially active this week. The German lighting giant has announced many new developments one week ahead of its latest financial result announcement. Changes in the company structure include the appointment of their new CFO Ingo Bank, OLED taillights being supplied to BMW, and acquisition of U.S. LED module manufacturer Novità Technologies.

Epistar also released a series of financial announcements and changes in its product structure this week. The Taiwanese Epi-wafer manufacturer is restructuring its production line and resources to turn around losses, it is focusing only on a few production lines, and in niche lighting markets. The company’s AlInGaN LEDs have been in high demands as VR device demands catch up on the market, said the company spokesperson Rider Chang.

Other interesting developments this week, MLS increased investments in a Chinese LED company, while Panasonic lighting revenue target for 2018 is to reach US $3.02 billion, roughly equivalent to 5% annual growth rate for its lighting business (conventional and LED combined).
