Tami Nadu will be implementing a state-wide streetlight upgrade in all municipalities, said Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday.

According to the report, the streetlight upgrade will be implemented in 10 corporations, 19 municipalities, and 18 wards in Thanjavur municipality to swap the sodium vapor lamps with LED bulbs, reported The Times of India.

The streetlight project to be rolled out in Dindigul corporation and other municipalities will cost INR 3.2 billion (US $) under a joint venture scheme, and is expected to slash energy costs by 35%, said Jayalalithaa.
