"Future Proofing" The Facility

While it's a new word, "Future proof" as a concept in commercial construction has been around for decades. The essence of the term is the genesis of the CWM. Its development was driven by market research at Columbia Lighting that demonstrated owners of commercial facilities are increasingly becoming more attuned to the payback of products that are modular, especially as it relates to long-lasting LEDs. Embedded in this equation is the value associated with the ability to change the aesthetics of a facility without swapping out foundational equipment like lighting.

The versatility of the CWM makes it appealing to a variety of decision makers involved in commercial lighting projects. The design community will be drawn to the flexibility of the aesthetics. Engineers will be empowered to specify base performance metrics, and installers will be pleased with the ease of installation – the CWM ships direct complete with no disassembly required in order to mount the luminaire.

"The CWM is a commercial LED product that offers customization without sacrificing performance," said Tom Veltri, product manager, new product innovation at Columbia Lighting. "The flexibility of the CWM will extend the average lifecycle of the fixture beyond industry standards, empowering building owners with the ability to trade out designs as trends and tastes evolve."

A great example of this is 3form products. 3form has been one of the leading companies that integrate stylish and sustainable products into fixtures to create ambiance. Lighting designers have the option of incorporating 3form products into the CWM.

Performance

The performance of the CWM is enhanced by a proprietary profile lens design that provides uniform appearance and enhanced visual comfort. The high performance light engine is the backbone to 140 lumens per watt, establishing a new benchmark for efficacy in this class. The clean aesthetics and flexibility is delivered through architecturally styled end caps.

Veltri added, “We also considered the difficulties installers face on a daily basis and focused on making the CWM easy to install and make changes in the field. All they’ll need to do is secure the mounting plate, connect power, mount the luminaire and they are done."
