LG Innotek Lights up the Final of U-20 World Cup

LG Innotek announced that its 10 watt high-power LED package, 3535G4L series, was applied to the main lights of the Suwon Word Cup Stadium, where the final of FIFA U-20 Word Cup Korea 2017 will be held on 11th, June.

High-power LED package is a high-power light source that emits bright light with power consumption of 1 watt or more. It brightens the night as if it is a day time and is used in sport stadiums, roads and factories. Especially, LEDs for sport lighting require high reliability to ensure smooth matches and broadcasts.

LG Innotek developed the high-power LED package with high reliability using its unique high-power vertical chip technology. This product has no problem lighting up a sport stadium even after it operates for 100,000 hours with the maximum power of 10 watts. With the lighting design technology of the lighting company KMW, the product was installed in the Suwon Word Cup Stadium as a main light.

The company's high-power LED package provides an optimal light that allows all players, spectators and TV viewers focus on the match. This high-quality light has superior color reproduction, optimal color temperature and high lighting efficiency, making it suitable for lighting international matches.

The LED package installed in the Suwon World Cup Stadium has a color reproduction similar to natural light with 90 or more color rendering index. Color rendering index (CRI) represents how close the color of lighting is to the natural light. Natural light has a CRI of 100, and the CRI of home lighting is approximately around 70 to 80.

LG Innotek's LED package provides a bright and vivid light with the color temperature of 5,000 Kelvin while giving fewer glares. Generally, with the product, people can watch a night match as if in a sunny day, but the light it produces makes your eyes more comfortable than bright sunlight.

Also, this LED package spends approx. 40% less power than the metal-halide lighting. In the Suwon World Cup Stadium, instead of 2 kilowatt metal-halide lighting, 1.2 kilowatt LED lighting is used to give the brightness of 2,200 lux, which is more than the level required by FIFA.

The complany's product has been recognized for its superb performance and quality and used for lighting at Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Stadium. It was installed in the stadium last July and used for three events including ski jump, biathlon and cross-country.

In addition to this, its RGB high-power LED package, which can light up with red, green and blue colors, is used for outdoor lighting of well-known architectures. The company’s LED package brightens the landmarks such as Malaysian government buildings and palaces as well as Incheon Bridge.

LG Innotek plans to expand its LED lineup with the ones for entertainment stages, etc. in the future. It also plans to release multi-color products such as super high-power LED package with 15 watts or 30 watts and RGGB or RGBW products.

According to Strategies in Light, a market research firm, the scale of the global market for super high-power LED package with 5 watts or more is expected to more than double from 560 million USD in last year to 1,440 million USD in 2020.

A representative from LG Innotek said, “As the LED’s performance and quality quickly improve, its application area has been expanded to sport stadiums and landscape lightings.” He also said, “You will be able to vividly see the players and spectators with high-quality lights produced by LG Innotek’s high-power LED packges.”
