Global ASPs of LED Light Bulbs Rose Slightly in June Due to Arrival of Pricier Smart Lighting Products, LEDinside Reports

Prices of LED light bulbs crept up slightly this June with the global ASP of 40-watt equivalent products rising by 1.1% compared with the prior month to US$6.6, according to the latest report from LEDinside, a division of TrendForce. The global ASP of 60-watt equivalent LED light bulbs remained constant at US$8.1.

“Japan and Germany saw noticeable price increases in June as prices of some products rebounded in those markets because they were no longer under promotion,” said LEDinside analyst Allen Yu. “Furthermore, market releases of the more expensive smart LED light bulbs also contributed to the small uptick in the general price trend.”

Prices have been stable in China’s LED package market as international LED suppliers prepare to ship their latest products in this year’s second half

In China, LED chip suppliers are raising their production capacity, but the overall chip supply is not expected to catch up to the strong downstream demand in the immediate period. On account of the tight chip supply, both chip and package prices in China remained firm in June. Prices of 0.2-watt and 0.5-watt 2835 LEDs have been steady for several months, while prices of EMC 3030 LEDs have also gradually stabilized.

Additionally, a few major international LED companies are also planning to mass produce and ship their latest LED packages worldwide this third quarter. These products include the extreme high density XD LEDs from CREE and LG Innotek’s flip chip 5630 series.
