The downlight is built with an integral junction box that eliminates the need for a traditional recessed housing during installation in new construction and retrofit projects. The fixture simply gets wired to a wall switch and placed into the ceiling – no can, bulb or extra labor required. MaxLite offers the J-Box Downlight in 4- and 6-inch diameters, and color temperatures of 2700K, 3000K and 4000K, to meet a variety of interior specifications. Outputs in the series range from 450 to 700 lumens, equivalent to those of 40- to 60-watt incandescent bulbs. Models with a 90-plus CRI are certified to meet Joint Appendix 8 (JA8) of the Title 24 2016 building code requirements for the State of California. In addition, all J-Box Downlight models are ENERGY STAR certified.
“The one-piece design of the J-Box Downlight is a real advantage for contractors and do-it-yourselfers,” said Product Manager Brendan Drew. “Not only is it very fast and easy to install, but the long life of LED technology translates to years of maintenance-free illumination and energy cost savings for homeowners and facility managers.”
The downlight is built with an airtight, IC-rated housing that secures easily into place using the integral torsion springs. The fixture is designed with a white baffle trim that blends seamlessly into interiors and reduces glare for soft, eye-pleasing illumination. The downlight operates on 120V and does not require the use of an external driver, thereby creating long-lasting and reliable performance over a lumen-maintenance life of 36,000 hours.
