Praxair Signs Long-Term Agreement to Support Samsung's OLED Production

Industrial gases supplier Praxair announced it has signed a long-term agreement to build, own and operate an air separation plant that will supply 700 tons per day of nitrogen to Samsung’s display manufacturing complex in Tangjeong, South Korea.

This complex is the largest sixth-generation flexible OLED panel plant in the world. Its capacity is increasing in 2017 in order to meet global market demand. OLEDs are used in a variety of products including televisions, mobile devices, digital cameras, virtual reality headsets and laptops.

This will be Praxair’s fourth air separation plant supporting the facility and it is expected to start up in 2018. This additional nitrogen will be used for cooling and purging applications in Samsung’s manufacturing process. Praxair has provided a reliable supply of nitrogen, oxygen, argon, helium and other gases to many of Samsung’s operations, including the Tangjeong LCD factory, for more than 25 years.

"We are proud to expand our longstanding relationship with Samsung and help support their growth globally," said B.S. Sung, president of Praxair Korea. "Through the years, our customer service teams and engineers have worked closely with Samsung on new ways to improve productivity and develop innovative applications technologies while continuing to provide a reliable supply of gases to their operations. We look forward to building on our relationship in the future."
