Apple is partnering with TSMC to develop silicon-based Micro LED displays, while Samsung Electronics is also planning to showcase a new Micro LED TV next year in January at CES 2018.

The new Micro LED TV will be 150-inch large, reported ZDNet. It is expected to officially hit the market next year.

Micro LED has attracted a lot of attention from major companies, research institutes, and startups. Some are specifically targeting the mid- and large-sized display market, the others are aiming at small displays, such as smart glasses, watches, and wearable devices.

Samsung spokeperson kept mum about it. It was reported before that Samsung planned to develop Micro LED TV to offset its lukewarm QLED TV sales. The company was also rumored to want to acquire a Taiwan-based Micro LED startup.
