LG Electronics Releases Eye-friendly Commercial Lighting Products

LG Electronics announced Monday that it plans to bolster its LED lighting product portfolio by introducing products that emit less blue light and are thus easier on the human eye.

The Korean electronics giant released a new brand name LG Smart Lighting Safe Blue and demonstrated 14 new products for commercial lighting.

The new lighting products, according to the company, feature specially-tailored spectrum resulting in less blue light emission. It reduces the damages the products have on the human eye as well as circadian rhythms.

LG Electronics aims to lead the korean smart lighting market with the launch of high-end and efficient lighting solutions featuring the distinctive technologies.

The company revealed the annual South Korean market for LED lighting is estimated at 2 trillion won (USD 1.87 billion). Following the release of commercial lighting products, LG Electronics also intends to roll out products for residential lighting.

LG Electronics is also attempting to apply the Internet of Things (IoT) technology to its LED products so they automatically adjust their brightness depending on ambient light and the movement of people.
