Plessey LED Lights for Sustainable Tomato Farm

Plessey announced its cooperation with a Belgian tomato producer, TomatoMaster with its latest LED growing light product.

TomatoMaster is family run company based in Deinze, Belgium, owning 10.7 hectares of greenhouses to produce high quality tomatoes. The company is expanding its production and building additional 5.4 hectares greenhouse with the installation of Plessey’s new Hyperion 1750 LED top-light.

Growing lights Hyperion 1750 introduced by Plessey featuring its light performance output of 1750 micromole/s, equivalent to sodium grow lights but save up to 40% energy comparing to sodium lights. Plessey also stresses the customized spectrums for various crops and environment and its low radiant heat that flexible lighting strategy could be adopted without influencing too much the temperatures in the greenhouses.

Aiming to reduce impacts on the environment and its commitment in sustainability, TomatoMaster is building their new greenhouse with diffused glass, 100% rainwater from large basins and 100% LED light installation from Plessey.

LED application on horticultural lighting brings proven efficiency in farming with various functions including reducing the energy cost, improving the quality and yield and controlling the life cycle of crops. Leading brands including Plessey, Osram and Signify keep reaching out their collaborations with food producers and research institutes.
