MagnaChip Release Mini LED Driver for Digital Signage

Korea-based semiconductor designer and manufacturer MagnaChip has announced that the company is offering a multi-channel Mini LED Driver to meet the demands of the rapidly growing digital signage market.

According to the latest research report of LEDinside “2019 Global LED Video Wall Market Outlook - Cinema, Rental Market and Price Trend,” the market scale of global LED display is expected to reach US$ 9.349 billion by 2022 with a CAGR of 12% during 2018 to 2022.

For outdoor signage, the size of displays can range up to several hundred inches which use numerous LEDs. Thus, the capability of LED drivers will need to meet the requirement of different sized LED panels. According to MagnaChip, it has developed a new Mini LED Driver for digital signage which is able to drive 36-channel LEDs concurrently with the feature of high density, lower energy consumption and more efficient product designs.

The Mini LED Driver uses 12 Bit Grayscale PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) to enable the 4,000-step PWM control and a sophisticated LED current control. It also provides 64-step output current control, which enables not only detailed graphic representation, but also accurate depictions of a variety of pictures and images according to the brightness of the contents.

YJ Kim, CEO of MagnaChip, said, “MagnaChip is planning to extend the product line for the fast growing segment of digital signage by developing products with an extension of channels and Micro LED Drivers with a high accuracy of LED current based on our new 36 Channel LED Driver."
