CIMCON Lighting, who focuses on smart city solutions and outdoor lighting management systems, launched the next generation of its smart city platform, NearSky. The updated platform includes smart city solutions consisting of sensors, devices and developer tools to simplify digital cities development.
CIMCON's NearSky platform is able to transform a city's existing streetlight infrastructure into a city-wide network of connected outdoor digital assets with a streetlight-mounted edge data processor and cloud-based data management software that collect, distribute and analyze data. It also offer a connect marketplace of smart city technologies and services that are compatible with the platform and allow cities to accelerate the realization of smart city benefits.

The platform was granted the LFI Innovation Award in the category of Controls: Components, Sensors, Interfaces and software during LFI 2019 which took place last week. Mobeen Khan, COO at CIMCON, commented, "This recognition from LFI reflects our commitment to continuous innovation in the controls and smart city space. Winning this Best of Category award and being joined here at LIGHTFAIR by our customers Syracuse and our host city, Philadelphia, underscores our commitment to offering customers great technology and services that are redefining what it means to be a smart city."
Philadelphia has selected a connected lighting solution featuring CIMCON’s NearSky smart city platform as part of the city’s pilot smart city program. The city has deployed a suite of smart city technologies, including intelligent streetlight controls, air quality monitors, and vehicle and people traffic counters, to better understand the benefits of these solutions on the efficiency of city operations and the quality of city services for citizens, businesses and visitors.
