Mojo Vision Introduce World’s Densest Micro LED Display for AR Applications

Mojo Vision, a California-based startup focusing on invisible computing, revealed it Micro LED display featuring 14,000 PPI, which the company claimed to be the smallest and densest dynamic display ever made.

The display sized only 0.48mm, same as a grain of sand but it can deliver a pixel density 300 times greater than current smartphone displays. The prototype technology uses Micro LEDs and is expected to be applied in wearable devices including AR/VR hardware and heads up displays (HUDs).

According to Mojo Vision, the new monochrome display technology delivers a world record pixel pitch of over 14,000 PPI and pixel density of over 200Mppi2, making it the smallest, densest display for dynamic content.

This technology breakthrough is critical to Mojo Vision’s development of augmented reality solutions. The company is exploring new ways of instantly receiving and sharing information without distracting people’s attention from the world in front of them, which is called “Invisible Computing” by Mojo Vision.

“Mojo’s high-density MicroLEDs represent a major advance in displays,” said Paul S. Martin, VP of Displays at Mojo Vision. “Creating screens with smaller pixels will deliver a nearly invisible low-power display without the distraction of today’s mobile devices. This prototype demonstrates the capability MicroLEDs have to create more seamless AR experiences.”

Mojo Vision has begun a R&D alliance with Plessey in May, 2019. Plessey is also working on AR solutions applying Micro LED display and signed a long term supply agreement with Vuzix for AR smart glasses development.
