Shineon Announces Its Development in Micro LED and Mini LED Displays

China LED company Shineon presented its Micro LED display at GILE 2019 with its new brand “IconiView” targeting high-end display products.

The 139-inch 4K Micro LED display was developed by Shineon and Lumens, using Flip-Chip-on-Module (COM) technology with a pixel density of 1,570,900 pixel/m2. The display achieved a contrast ratio of 3000:1 and its brightness is over 2000nit. According to Shineon, the product has been verified and can be mass produced.

Shineon said it has been developing laser-lift-off thin-film LED technology which is critical for Micro LED development and acquired key patents since its establishment in 2010. From 2016, the company has put focuses on Micro LED and Mini LED technologies and applications.

Shineon has partnered with several panel and technology developers in China and abroad to work on Mini LED backlight technology. Together with CSOT, the company has demonstrated an 8-inch IGZO-TFT based AM-Mini LED RGB display with a 60% transparency rate and a pitch size of 0.55mm. Meanwhile, the company also manufactured a 3.5-inch PM display featured with over 90% transparency.
