Oculus/Facebook Designer Puts Flexible LED Panel on Face Mask
Chelsea Klukas, the product design manager at Oculus/Facebook AR/VR team, recently debuted a face mask combining a LED display panel to show customized images or texts, under her fashion-technology brand Lumen Couture.
The LED mask can connect with an application on smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth to input the messages or graphic that users want to show on the mask. The mask also provides equalizer mode to respond to music, sounds or voice of the phones to deliver unique animated designs.

The 512 pixels LED display panel is put between the washable dual-layer masks and can be removed from the mask. The display is USB-chargeable and would last for 3-4 hours per charge.
However, the designer Klukas also addressed that the mask is not tested for medical efficiency and cannot guarantee medical protection. Thus, people using the mask are at their own risk.
The LED matrix face mask costs US$90 and is open for pre-order now with shipment scheduled in early May, 2020. 60% of the profits from the mask will be donated to WHO COVID-19 Response Fund.
The designer also sell the flexible LED screen separately for creators to design other wearable LED products.
