Sony Reveals Pricing for Its 8K, 4K LED and OLED TV Lineup

Sony announced the price and availability for its 2020 TV models demonstrated at CES earlier this year. The 2020 TV lineup includes series of 8K/4K LED TVs and 4K OLED TVs from US$599.99 to US$9999.99.

The most expensive product announced by Sony this time is its Z8H 8K HDR LED TVs, the 85-inch model will cost US$9999.99 and the 75-inch one is US$6999.99. With Sony’s Full Array LED technology with 8K X-tended Dynamic Range PRO, the product series features local dimming to address better contrast similar to Mini LED backlight display technology.

The X950H 4K LED TVs also feature the same technology with an 85-inch TV costs US$4499.99 and US$3499.99 for the 75-inch model. Compared to the Z8H 8K model, the X950H 4K series used fewer LEDs for backlighting so its contrast level was lower.

Sony also introduced the 4K OLED TVs, A8H BRAVIA, pricing US$3099.99 for 65-inch Class and US$2299.99 for 55-inch Class.

From the price and specification announced by Sony, we can see that LED backlight TVs featuring local dimming for achieving advanced display quality requires a greater amount of LED packages. The more LEDs used, the higher the price, reflecting the high cost issue of Mini LED backlight technology currently.
