Samsung is expected to surpass the 1 million shipment mark for QD-OLED TVs next year. As a result, the company will almost triple shipments in 2023, and market watchers predict that Samsung will continue to increase QD-OLED TV shipments through next year and into 2024.
Samsung shipped around 450,000 QD-OLED TVs this year, and UBI Research analysts cited by The Elec expect the company to increase QD-OLED shipments to 1.3 million next year. According to the source, Samsung Display increased its QD-OLED production yield to 90% in just one year after mass production began. And in turn, Samsung Electronics raised its forecast for 2023 from 1 million to 1.3 million shipments.
QD-OLED TVs are gaining more traction
Market watchers believe that Samsung will continue to increase QD-OLED TV shipments in 2024. The company may exceed the 2 million mark after 2023.
Neo QLED and QD-OLED combined, Samsung may reach around 3.8 million shipments in 2023. This implies that QD-OLED will narrow the gap with Neo QLED TVs. Samsung expects to ship around 2.5 million Neo QLED TVs next year.
Not long ago, the same research firm said that Samsung Display is betting on QD-OLED technology for orders from other companies. Samsung’s display division has increased QD-OLED panel production and was looking to secure orders from multiple other device manufacturers, including Apple.
