The market scale of global lighting market totals US$70 billion every year, including the market scale of the general lighting market valued at about US$40 billion, but the penetration rate of LED products utilized in the lighting market accounts for about 1%, according to Technology Development Association (PIDA).

Power Analog Microelectronics (PAM), a developer of Class-D digital audio amplifiers and high-power LED display driver semiconductors, estimates that pricing for LED-based lighting products may fall from the present price of US$10-20 to US$2 within five years.
