More than an updated DeTomaso Pantera, the company's latest evolution of its ProgettoUno hides a little Huracan under its skin

Italian coachbuilder Ares Modena early August unveiled its latest creation, the Ares Panther Evo. The supercar boasts retro-inspired styling, complete with pop-up headlights and wedge-shaped angles that will trigger nostalgia among enthusiasts. It is an evolution of the company’s Panther ProgettoUno, first unveiled in June 2019; and its Project Panther of 2017 before that.
While the Panther Evo rather obviously pays tribute to the DeTomaso Pantera, a cultural classic from the 1970s, its mechanical platform is decidedly more modern. Based on the Lamborghini Huracan, it gets that supercar’s very capable 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10.
However, the engine has been tuned to liberate 641 bhp at 8,250 rpm, about 10 bhp more than the Huracan STO. That power is fed to all four wheels via a seven-speed DCT gearbox. It translates to a 3.1-second sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) and an official 202-mph (325-km/h) top-speed rating, despite its 3,137-lb (1,423-kg) curb weight.
