An immersive video tunnel, featuring six sections of LED display wall, is showing player footage mixed with floor-to-ceiling lighting and audio, at the new headquarters of the Professional Footballers Association.
The video tunnel is the standout contribution of Viewpoint AV, which worked in partnership with the Claremont workplace design and build agency.
The video tunnel can be seen in a recently released Claremont video case study on its work for the trade union for professional footballers in England and Wales.
The PFA wanted its Manchester home to celebrate "the beautiful game" and its motto "for football, for life". The aim was to create a modern destination office, to support education, financial and wellbeing services, and initiatives such as a new business school.
As you enter the welcome lounge of the headquarters, the PFA logo is represented in football studs. Also present is a red brick wall engraved with PFA award winners, a nod to Manchester's architecture and the fact fans could buy engraved bricks at old stadiums. The space is also peppered with football artefacts, including shirts, caps, boots and more.
The headquarters has a dedicated desk area, meeting rooms of different sizes, and a lecture theatre— including the same bucket seats as Manchester United’s dugout. There is also a media room with a green screen for live streaming and podcasting and a curtain made from historic football shirts—named the ‘shirt-ain’. A welcome lounge and board room can be opened up to host events or closed down to offer more privacy.
