[News] Apple Watch Reportedly to Debut Blood Pressure Monitoring Feature by 2025

News Source:

The long-rumored blood pressure monitoring feature for Apple Watch has yet to materialize, but according to a report from TechNews citing Bloomberg, this feature may debut as early as next year.

The TechNews report, citing Bloomberg, indicates that the new feature will not provide precise systolic/diastolic readings. Instead, it will monitor user data over time to detect upward trends and issue alerts for potential hypertension.

The report from TechNews highlights that current Apple Watch models already detect conditions like atrial fibrillation or irregular heart rhythms and provide single-lead ECG readings for healthcare professionals. They also support blood oxygen level monitoring.

Meanwhile, as Bloomberg highlights, Samsung Electronics—Apple’s biggest smartphone competitor—already offers devices with blood pressure monitoring features, though concerns about the accuracy of Samsung’s product remain.

In addition to the blood pressure monitoring feature, the report mentions that Apple is also developing non-invasive blood glucose monitoring, but this feature is still in progress and not yet ready for release.

Apart from the new features, Bloomberg notes that Apple Watch is also getting another change in at least some models: replacing Intel’s cellular modems with versions developed by MediaTek. It will reportedly mark Apple’s first use of a major MediaTek component after years of evaluation and further reduces its reliance on Intel, which previously supplied Mac processors.
