[News] Hisense Unveils Bigger and Bolder TVs at CES 2025

News Source:

Hisense showcased its ambitions to dominate the ultra-large TV market at CES 2025, unveiling two massive models: a 116-inch RGB Mini LED LCD TV (116UX) and a 136-inch Micro LED TV. With these announcements, Hisense is taking direct aim at competitors like TCL and Samsung.

A New Benchmark for Large LCD TVs
TCL set the stage by making 98-inch LCD TVs more affordable, but Hisense is doubling down on its 100-inch LCD TVs. The company has already claimed the top position in the U.S. for TVs sized 87 inches and above, boasting a market share 15 times larger than it held in 2023. Hisense is now poised to outdo TCL’s 115-inch 115X955 Pro from last year with the introduction of the 116-inch 116UX.

Hisense’s 116" Mini LED TV powered by RGB local dimming technology

The 116UX marks Hisense’s foray into RGB Mini LED backlighting, branded as TriChroma. This advanced system reportedly reproduces 97% of the BT.2020 color gamut, outperforming even QD-OLED displays. The TV is equipped with tens of thousands of RGB LED-focused optical lenses, although the exact number of dimming zones remains unspecified.

The 116UX delivers up to 10,000 nits of peak brightness and includes a built-in 6.2.2-channel speaker system. It supports HDR10, Dolby Vision IQ, and IMAX Enhanced, all within a sleek profile less than 40mm thick. The new Hi-View AI Engine X ensures top-tier performance, and this model runs on Google TV.

Hisense Introduces First-Ever Micro LED TV
Hisense also made waves by announcing its first consumer-ready Micro LED TV, a 136-inch model set to launch in the U.S. later this year. Unlike Mini LEDs, Micro LEDs are self-emissive and eliminate the need for an LCD panel. The Micro LED TV features 24.88 million individual Micro LEDs, delivering 4K resolution.

The Micro LED TV achieves 95% of the BT.2020 color gamut, a peak brightness of 10,000 nits, and a million-to-one contrast ratio. Additional features include 120Hz refresh rate, variable refresh rate, advanced HDR formats (Dolby Vision, HDR10+, Filmmaker Mode, IMAX Enhanced), HDMI 2.1, and Vidaa OS.

Hisense described Micro LED as “the next display technology for consumers” and “the future of TV.” However, the company did not disclose pricing for these ultra-large models. Given the high cost of Samsung’s Micro LED TVs, the affordability of Hisense’s offerings remains a key question.

With its bold CES announcements, Hisense is positioning itself as a leader in the race for bigger and better TVs, promising cutting-edge technology and performance in the ultra-large size segment.
