[News] Lenovo Unveils MicroLED AI Glasses V1, Reportedly Among the Lightest but Misses Camera

News Source:

AI glasses are shaping up to be the next frontier in wearable tech, and Chinese PC maker Lenovo’s latest move shows it doesn’t plan to be left behind. According to Chinese outlet ITHome, Lenovo has unveiled its AI Glasses V1, featuring a lightweight 38-gram design with lenses as thin as 1.8 mm. The product will go on sale on November 9, with a launch price of 3,999 yuan, the report adds.

Ultra-Light Design and Advanced Display Technology
The design is reportedly among the lightest in its class. According to Notebookcheck, the Rokid Glasses are promoted as the world’s lightest full-featured AI and AR glasses, weighing just 48 grams. While Lenovo hasn’t made similar claims, its AI Glasses V1 come in even lighter than Rokid’s.

As LEDinside highlights, in terms of display capabilities, the glasses adopt Meta-Bounds’ pioneering resin diffraction waveguide technology combined with a monochrome Micro LED display, delivering brightness of up to 2,000 nits with an eye-tracking viewing area of 15 × 11 mm. In addition, users can switch between monocular and binocular display modes as needed to suit different usage scenarios.

AI Capabilities, But No Camera
Aside from innovations in display technology, ITHome points out that the glasses’ temples are equipped with a touch panel that supports actions such as swiping to answer calls, check messages, and flip through pages. The device also features Lenovo’s Tianxi intelligent assistant, enabling AI voice interactions, and according to the report, the glasses offer up to 250 hours of standby time and can perform continuous translation for 8 to 10 hours. Meanwhile, despite its range of AI capabilities, 9to5Google notes that the Lenovo V1 does not include a camera, one of the most sought-after features in today’s smart glasses.

Lenovo is not the only company making its move in AI glasses featuring Micro LED. According to LEDinside, several AR glasses featuring Micro LED technology have recently been unveiled. In late October, LED display maker Leyard launched preorders for its first Micro LED AR glasses. That same month, Waterfall introduced its AI Glasses, powered by a full-color Micro LED optical engine, while INMO also released its INMO GO3 AI smart glasses.
