Optimistic Outlook for LED Power Supply in Q3

Since power supply companies ventured into the LED field, vendors have been optimistic about the outlook for market demand in 3Q09, according to industry sources.

Lite-On Tech. (2301.tw) Chairman Song Kung-Yuan said that orders have been increasing quarter after quarter, and compared to the relatively low profit base in 1Q09, 2Q09 profit appeared to have “grown exponentially.”

Delta has also started collaborating with SONY, Philips and Sharp to develop new LED TV prototypes. Spurred by Japanese vendors accelerated release of outsourcing orders, and booming orders received, Delta’s TV power supply shipment in 2009 are forecast to reach 24 million units, and top the TV power supply leader board.

AcBel (6282.two) has also tapped into the LED streetlights segment, and received orders from 3 cities in China, including Xuzhou and others in central and northern China; shipments are expected to commence in August.

As for Solytech Enterprise Corporation, (1471.tw) due to higher emphasis on exports to U.S. and Europe in 3Q09, coupled with shipment of high-voltage power supply for PCs, shipment is expected to expand, with improved gross margin compared to 2Q09.
