Dominant Unveils K Nova Alingap Package; Cost-Competitive with Impressive Brightness

DOMINANT Semiconductors has recently released its new series product, K Nova 3W AlInGaP. The new product measures just 7.2 mm x 7.2 mm in size while provides an impressive brightness of typical 90lm at 700mA, according to the company. This LED is designed for exterior automotive lighting, general lighting and signage.

The single chip LED has a long lifetime supported by a silicone encapsulation as well as the low thermal resistance of Rth (js) = 8K/W in a SMT package dissipating efficiently the heat. The K Nova is available in 3 colors: yellow, red and amber.

The K Nova features a 120° emission angle and an low thin package profile of only 2.0mm, and is designed to ensure high luminous efficacy using the latest chip technology, according to the company. At an operating current of 700mA this light source can achieve an impressive brightness of typical 90lm. This high light output allows smaller number of LEDs in various applications where a high luminous flux value is required.

Engineering samples of the new product are available now, and mass-production will start in October 2009.
