EVERLIGHT Announces New 3020S PLCC LED Series

The new 3020S PLCC LED series has two over drive capabilities, 30mA and 60mA which will cater to this growing demand for higher brightness PLCC packages can be over driven.

The market has recently been consumed with demand for low power PLCC LEDs. Traditionally, light bar applications have been utilizing small 20mA PLCC packages that enable high lumen density and uniformity to emulate the appearance of fluorescent tubes. As the market improves so does the required specifications for fixtures in that market.

Light tube manufacturers are searching for PLCC solutions with more brightness. This is for a few reasons. Light tube manufacturers are looking for ways to increase the brightness of their fixture without changing the board layout or any part of the mechanical design. The best way to do this is to use an LED that can be over driven. Another reason for higher brightness PLCC packages is because other manufacturers are trying to maintain minimum system brightness while decreasing the number of LEDs used. Thus, it is going to make the entire tube more cost effective.

EVERLIGHT Electronics Co., Ltd. [TSE:2393]
has a new series of LEDs that caters to this growing demand for higher brightness PLCC packages that can be over driven. Originally a 3020 PLCC package driven at 20mA, this product series has evolved into two new 3020S PLCC packages. One can be over driven to 30mA and the other to 60mA. The 3020S 30mA version is highly recommended for light bars or panel lights that need more brightness or fewer LEDs on the board. The 3020S 60mA is also suitable for light bars and panel lights but expand into other applications as well. It is a good light source for smaller omni-directional or decorative bulbs. They have sufficient lumen output to achieve total system requirements and are compact enough to fit on smaller board designs. Examples include A15 bulbs or small decorative globes. EVERLIGHT’s new 3020S series also boast superior thermal resistance of 50C/W, allowing for more efficient thermal management at these higher driving currents.

With a bit of application based marketing, “The Right LED” can be paired with the appropriate applications to provide the best performance and quality. EVERLIGHT provides “Total Solution” for different customers in different lighting applications that are expected to satisfy the fastest-growing global LED lighting market.
