[News] Everlight Files LED Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against Lumileds in the U.S.

Shulin Dist., New Taipei City– February 3, 2026– Everlight Electronics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Everlight”) filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Lumileds Holding B.V. and Lumileds, LLC (hereinafter “Lumileds”) in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware on February 2, 2026. The defendants are LED electronic component manufacturers. Everlight alleges that Lumileds has infringed upon its US flip-chip patent, US Patent No. 7,554,126, and that the infringing products are specific automotive LED products sold by Lumileds. 

In the lawsuit, Everlight intends to request a permanent injunction, filing of accounting records, damages, interest, and the recall and destruction of infringing products. Everlight claims that Lumileds’ LUXEON Go automotive LED products and/or high-power LEDs manufactured and sold by Lumileds infringe its US patent. The correlation between Lumileds ' LED products and Everlight’s patent is as follows: 

Everlight's US 7,554,126 patent relates to LED flip-chip and packaging processes, which is a key technology for the automotive lighting market. By adjusting the area of the N/P electrodes, the technology achieves excellent adhesion between the LED chip and solder, providing high heat dissipation and packaging reliability. This technology is suitable for high-power lighting, displays, and other fields. Regarding US Patent No. 7,554,126, Everlight holds a patent family in countries and regions including the United States, Japan, and China.

Everlight states that Lumileds’s automotive LED products have utilized Everlight's US patent No. 7,554,126 with flip-chip technology. This patent is applicable not only to automotive LED products but also covers multiple fields such as general lighting, filaments, UVC, CSP, backlighting, flashlights, and Mini/Micro LED.

Everlight reiterates that the primary purpose of patent rights is to protect the results of research and development and to encourage industrial development. In response to illegal infringement in the market, Everlight will take legal action when necessary and will not show leniency, in order to uphold its consistent position of respecting intellectual property rights.
