Formosa Petrochemical Corporation (FPCC) announced Thursday about a new investment partnership with Japanese UV LED manufacturer Nikkiso to expand applications in medical devices, reported Taiwanese media UDN.

 AquiSense Technologies, the world leader in UV-C LED disinfection systems, has been wholly acquired by Nikkiso America in a cash deal. With over a half century of product development, Nikkiso has provided original technologies to a range of industries, including medical, aviation, life sciences, and microelectronics. Nikkiso America announces general availability of 50mW deep UV LEDs, utilizing the firm’s well-established manufacturing process technology. The VPS173 series UV LED product range delivers approximately 1.7 times the power level of the previous generation, with demonstrated operating lifetimes in excess of 10,000 hours at 350mA drive current. Initial 50mW deep UV LED availability will include 285nm components in a surface mount device (SMD) configuration, with pending releases of products from 265nm to 300 nm.

Japanese UV LED manufacturer Nikkiso is collaborating with Formosa Plastics Group to build the world’s largest UV LED factory in Taiwan, reported Japanese media Nikkei.

Nikkiso America, a world leader in the development and commercialization of deep ultraviolet LEDs, has announced that it has initiated shipments of the world’s highest power deep UV-LEDs, featuring three times more optical power output than is commercially available from other sources in the UV-C and UV-B range. The Nikkiso UV-LED business will introduce the new high-power deep UV-LED product line for the first time in North America at the SPIE Photonics West exhibition in San Francisco February 10 - 12, 2015, North Hall Booth #4815. The Nikkiso UV-LED products are designed for applications in biomedical instrumentation and treatment, germicidal purification and sterilization, and industrial curing and printing.

Japanese pump and LED manufacturer Nikkiso will start mass producing UV LEDs with a wavelength between 255-350 nm in Spring 2015, according to a report by Japanese media Nikkei Technology.

NIKKISO CO. has announced that it is establishing a new factory in Japan. The company will initiate production operations in mid 2014 and install an annual capacity in excess of 1 million units for its UVB and UVC LED illumination sources.
