Malaysian LED manufacturers reportedly have raked in RM 37.1 million (US $9.86 M) at LED Expo Thailand 2015, reported MalayMail Online recently.

The Thailand LED luminaire market is still pretty much focused on conventional replacement products, such as LED T8 tube lights and LED bulbs, but some bold manufacturers are hoping to introduce smart LED lighting products as observed at LED Expo Thailand 2015, which took place in late May this year at the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center.

Based on a survey of about 30 manufacturers, LEDinside has compiled some of the general lighting trends observed at LED Expo Thailand 2015, which ran from May 21-24, 2015 at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center. Some of the most notable trends include LED T5 tube market is gradually being replaced with LED T8 tubes.

Most of Thailand LED manufacturers directly import LED chips and components from China, as a result only a handful of LED chip and package manufacturers displayed products at LED Expo Thailand 2015, which took place from May 21-24, 2015 at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center.

Japanese LED chip manufacturer Citizen booth might have been the furthest from the show entrance at LED Expo Thailand this year, but its prototype LED COB and AC LED modules attracted a steady stream of visitors towards its booth.

Even though the Thailand government is not too keen on issuing more incentives to support the local LED industry, there is still plenty positive market developments that manufacturers can be optimistic about.
