Idemitsu Kosan and Merck concluded a collaboration agreement that allows each party to use the other party’s OLED material-related patents in certain areas.

Idemitsu Electronic Materials Korea Co., Ltd. a wholly owned subsidiary backed by Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. has completed construction of a plant for manufacturing OLED materials in Paju, near Seoul, and plans to begin production. Recently, Japan's Toshiba Corp and Matsushita joint venture to develop OLED displays with the world's longest product life span and lowest power consumption. The venture has developed the new panel in cooperation with Idemitsu Kosan Co, a Japanese oil refiner active in OLED materials development.
