Current by GE Provides Smart City Software and Intelligent Lighting Controls for San Diego

With the help of Current, powered by GE, the City of San Diego has begun smart city project since last year and has released several new digital applications to improve parking, traffic and public safety on city streets. GE to Roll out Smart Streetlight Pilot Projects in San Diego and Jacksonville

Cities on both U.S. coasts will soon begin piloting new GE technology designed to help them become more intelligent and efficient. San Diego, California, and Jacksonville, Florida, will both be trialing a new GE LED solution, which uses LED street lighting installations to connect, collect and analyze data being generated, harnessing the power of the Industrial Internet to help their city run better while providing new services and conveniences for residents and visitors.

GE Smart Lighting Technology to Help San Diego Save More than US$25,000 Annually

San Diego announced today that it will illuminate its downtown district with GE Lighting’s intelligent lighting system, including LED street lighting, making it the first city in the United States to adopt GE’s LightGrid™ technology. The new system, set to be in place by spring of this year, will offer improved and energy-efficient lighting that will save the city more than a quarter-million dollars in energy costs each year.
