The Lighting Research Center (LRC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is investigating the impacts of working from home or quarantining indoors due to the COVID-19 pandemic on individual daily light exposures. The results showed that indoor and outdoor light exposure significantly impacted people’s sleep quality and psychological health.

LED lighting installed on supermarket shelves is killing the reducing key nutrients in milk and shortening its shelf life, according to a new report by researchers from Newcastle University.
The report, titled “Milk: Light exposure and depletion of key nutrients,” shows that high-intensity lighting, such as that found in supermarket dairy cabinets, damages nutrition value of milk by degrading essential nutrients such as Vitamin A, Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) and Vitamin D.

We have become aware of the damages that blue light can bring to our eyes and the possible benefit of Human Centric Lighting. A psychology researcher at Simon Fraser University, Canada, is looking to explore the effect of LED lighting even more by studying whether innovative LED lighting that mimics natural sunlight can affect the body’s natural circadian rhythms and improve mental health.
