The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the U.S. government issued an announcement to call on distributers and marketers of LED signs to follow statute and rules of the FCC.
In the announcement, the FCC unveiled that its Enforcement Bureau has entered into 21 settlement agreements with companies that marketed noncompliant LED signs in violation of the Communications Act and FCC rules since March 2018. In an attempt to regulate LED electronic signs, the City Council has recently unveiled a draft ordinance that targets the bright messages.
A City Council decision this month to allow Wave Church to erect an electronic sign in a residential area of Great Neck angered some neighbors who called the signs garish and said they don't belong among homes.

Recently, Fort Walton Beach's public works department plans to install lighted street signs at three busy intersections this week. Employees spent last week completing the wiring work to install the LED signs.
Public Works Director Tom Murray said “At nighttime it just makes the street name signs much more visible.” “It's very low energy because it's LED lighting and they're very, very effective lights at nighttime, that's very helpful for our visitors in the area,” Murray continued.
