Osram Presents Infrared Laser Bars for Metal Processing

The number of infrared light-based applications has increased rapidly in recent years. Long before infrared LEDs and VCSELs were used as light source for face recognition in smartphones, early manufacturers developed infrared lasers. Osram Opto Semiconductors, who has been working for many years on high-power lasers for special applications, teams up with its partners to present the performance of laser bars from the latest EKOLAS project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. In recent years, state-of-the-art laser technology has increasi...

Osram Launches Infrared Laser and VCSEL Products for 3D Sensing and LiDAR

Osram and its subsidiary Vixar both launched new sensing products covering infrared laser and VCSEL. (Image: Osram) Osram adds a 65 Watt laser, SPL DP90_3 to its LiDAR photonics portfolio for high resolution, near-field detection for bringing autonomous driving one step closer. Long-range LiDAR is used to detect objects up to approximately 250 meters away. The immediate surroundings of the car must also be reliably captured by short- or mid-range LiDAR, which covers a distance up to approximately 90 meters from the vehicle. Short- or mid-range LiDAR c...
