Hitachi Research Laboratory (HRL) of Hitachi Ltd exhibited a prototype of an OLED lighting panel made by using a coating process at Lighting Fair 2013 from March 3 to 8, 2013, in Tokyo.   For the panel, HRL used the "spontaneous multilayer light-emitting layer formation material," which enables to make an OLED lighting panel just by applying HRL's own red (R), green (G) and blue (B) light-emitting materials once. Hitachi Appliances Inc has announced to develop world’s first E26-base wide-light-distribution-type LED light bulb, "LDA15D-G," which can emits the amount of light equivalent to that of a 100W incandescent light bulb (1,520lm). The new bulb is to be released on July 13, 2012, in Japan. Reportedly, Taiwan LED maker Delta Electronics intends to tap into the domestic market with its own brand LED bulbs by the end of 2010. As soon as its products are available for sales, Delta will become Taiwan`s first LED-lighting manufacturer to sell own-brand LED light bulbs on the island. According to Delta, the LED bulb market would grow five to 10 folds globally in 2011.

It’s reported that Taiwan Delta Electronics has made a contract with Osram for LED light bulbs using chipmaker Epistar `s high-voltage chip, a solution to making LED luminaires adaptable to household 110-220V power outlets.

It’s reported that Hitachi Ltd. (TSE:6501) and Canon Inc. (TSE:7751) have agreed to jointly develop and manufacture small and midsize organic electroluminescence (EL) displays for digital cameras within two years. The two firms plan to set up in early July to handle the project, they will transfer a total of about 100 engineers to a new organization.
