In Taiwan market, industry sources thought that LED backlit LCD monitors’ market penetration had increased rapidly,with the price gap over CCFL models narrowed and LCD monitor shipments in 2010 was going up to 1.3 million units.
For example, the price gap between 22-inch LED and CCFL models has narrowed to NT$300, and about NT$100-150 for the 19-inch segment. So the source noted that in Taiwan market in 2010 22-inch LED backlit widescreen LCD monitors would replace CCFL models and 19-inch widescreen products as the industry mainstream.

Recently, BenQ has announced a couple of 16:9 LCD monitors that feature LED backlighting, the 21.5-inch V2210 and the 24-inch V2410 in Japan.
Both new displays have a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 5ms response time, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 250 cd/m2 brightness, the Senseye image enhancement technology, plus DVI and HDMI outputs. BenQ has not yet reveal any prices but said that the V2210 will hit (Japanese) stores on December 25th, and the V2410 will follow on the 30th.

Samsung, South Korea’s largest PC maker, is preparing an onslaught of new product in the new year, with tablet PCs, more 3D and all monitors LED backlit by the end of 2010.
Samsung will have those products in the future or coming into 2010. Samsung is also planning multitouch monitors and notebooks, as well as more 3D.
The touchscreen monitors will likely be CCFL backlit to start, but later will be LED backlit.
