Nokia has announced its commercial partnership with Current by GE for applying smart city technology to Canadian cities to improve infrastructures and citizen services.

Nokia Bell Labs and Osram have teamed up to create the foundation of affordable, high-performance indoor radio networks. In a joint initiative the network specialist and the lighting company have been exploring how ceiling luminaires can be used to create a tightly integrated interior radio network with 5G capabilities. “Our office and industrial luminaires are already networked for remote control,” said Thorsten Müller, Head of Innovation at Osram. “In this R&D project, we equipped them with special broadband radio modules, allowing mobile devices like cell phones and laptops to connect to the luminaire network and transmit data.”

Nokia announced the  launch of two feature phone mdels to come with built-in LED flash lights.

Semiconductor Energy Laboratory (SEL), Advanced Film Device (AFD) (a subsidiary of SEL) and Nokia developed OLED displays that can be folded into two or three, according to a latest report by Nikkei Technology.

Taking place over a two-week period, the 14 x 4 panel (14.22m x 3.04m) Rn7-ER 7mm screen was suspended from a crane in the city’s Potters Fields Park, near Tower Bridge. Mounted in a frame forming a giant arrow, it provided a unique form of interactive entertainment.
